Age of Conan introduces what they like the call "Prestige Classes" that players will be able to obtain at a higher level. The four classes are "The Craftor", "The Commander", "The Lord" and "The Master". All of these classes have their own advantages that can be used in solo or group play and they all have specific and beneficial skills that will make a great difference in battle. For instance the Commander can use specific formations that are not normally used and the Lord has certain "rights" when building cities and gathering resources. The Master is actually given control of a follower who will be able to help in his battles. Here are a few of the benefits that each prestige class is given. |

Brawler Guides Brawlers (Monks and Bruisers) constitute two of the six fighter classes (the other four are Guardian, Berserker, Shadowknight, and Paladin). In the game, tanks fall into two possible categories: Mitigation Tanks and Avoidance Tanks. While Mitigation Tanks rely on their heavy armor to deflect as much damage as possible, Monks and Bruisers rely upon their skills to avoid getting hit instead and so are called Avoidance Tanks.
An Avoidance Tank can easily tank as well as a Mitigation Tank on all but Epic encounters, where a large proportion of the Combat Arts the Epic creatures have disregard a tank's avoidance skills. This means that, in Epic encounters, Brawlers are hit more frequently and, being limited to leather armor, tend not to hold up to the punishment as well as a tank wearing plate. Brawlers can turn out respectable Damage Per Second in such situations, however, or can work as an Off-Tank, providing relief and back-up to a raid's Main Tank and do quite well. |

With the influx of new players from Rise of Kunark we're seeing a lot of the same question around here, so I figured a bit of a general guide to help people out with choosing a class couldn't hurt. While this doesn't go into specifics of each class (might do that soon) it is aimed at helping new players deal with the information overload that often comes when they are confronted with such a plethora of choices. If you feel I've missed something or misstated feel free to let me know and I'll correct as needed. Class - Some people got it, some don't... Help choosing a class is probably the single most common topic posted by new folks here in the forum. With twenty four classes and eighteen races to choose from it can be a little overwhelming to someone without any experience in the game. We'll go over each class and what they each bring to the table soon enough, but for now we'll cover some basic information regarding the classes that might help you make your decision. |
